The Trees Will Outgrow the House: What My Morning Routine Taught Me About Discipline
The Trees Will Outgrow the House
My mornings run on the PAMPER method. Prayer, affirmations, meditation, prepare for the day, exercise, read, in that order, and the order matters more than people expect. Green tea comes before coffee, coffee doesn't happen until 11am, and by lunch I'm having a smoothie built around greens because that's what actually keeps my energy level honest for the rest of the day.
Here's the thing I keep coming back to: what we put in our body is as important as, maybe more important than, what we put on it. We groom ourselves for how we look constantly. We're a lot less disciplined about what we're fueling ourselves with to actually operate at our best.
I think about this the same way I think about real estate, because the truth is anything in nature, including us, needs to be groomed or it goes one of two ways. Out of control, or destroyed. A home needs maintenance or the trees around it will outgrow it, and eventually it's not even habitable anymore. Plants grow straight through concrete if nothing stops them. Nature does not respect boundaries on its own. The boundaries, the structure, the shape, that's discipline. That's routine. If you want to stay sharp, in your body or in your home or in your business, you don't get there by accident.
What you eat shapes your mind, your body, and honestly your soul too. I've maintained mine through minimal health hacks, staying spiritually focused, and building routines I actually stick to instead of routines that look good on paper.
What are some things you do to stay focused and operating at your best? Drop a comment. I read every one, and this is exactly the kind of question worth actually answering, not scrolling past.
For those who want the practical details: Samiyah's point above tracks with what's actually happening in real estate right now. Wellness-focused homes are commanding 10% to 25% higher price points than standard luxury homes, according to Sotheby's International Realty's 2026 Mid-Year Luxury Outlook, and the wellness real estate market is projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2030. The same discipline that shapes a body shapes a floor plan.
