Central Florida Buzz: The Jobs Quietly Stacking Up Behind the Headlines
While the housing market waits on the election, Central Florida's job market isn't waiting on anything. The Orlando Economic Partnership's latest numbers show three companies committing to the region at once: Worth AI is adding 30 Orlando jobs averaging $190,000 a year, Concentrix announced 470 new jobs in Lake Mary, and Hernon Manufacturing is putting $2.8 million into its Sanford expansion.
These are economic development announcements, not guaranteed hires, so treat them as a signal rather than a forecast. But the signal is worth sitting with. Jobs at that salary level don't stay put, and the people filling them tend to be looking in the same corridors where these companies are planting roots: Lake Mary, Sanford, and the broader Orlando market.
There's a second layer to this growth story that doesn't show up in a jobs count. AI and data infrastructure are competing for the same land, power, and construction capacity that housing needs, and that competition is already pushing up the cost of electricity in growth corridors nationwide. Central Florida isn't exempt. If new employers and new data infrastructure are both pulling on the same grid, the households living closest to that growth are the ones who benefit most from controlling their own energy cost instead of riding the wave. That's exactly where this week's Wealth Loop and Vendor Spotlight pick up the thread.
If you're a seller who's been waiting for a reason to feel good about your timing, this is it.
